JWANENG HOSTS MOTORCYCLE COMPETITION

JWANENG - All roads lead to Jwaneng this weekend, where the Jwaneng Motor Sports Club will be hosting the second round of the Southern African Motorcycle Union (AMU) championship.

 

According to the media liason officer for the Jwaneng motor sports club, Innocent Molatlhwe, the first round of this competition was held in Zambia on August 14 while the third and final round would be in Namibia on November 5 and 6.

He revealed to BOPA in an interview that the more than 120 participants would arrive on Friday and the competition start on Saturday morning followed by a prize giving function in the evening.

 

Participants would be from Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

He said this motor cycle competition would be held at a location behind Jwanengs new fire station where stands would be erected to ensure that spectators have a better view of the track.

 

Molatlhwe said hosting this event in Jwaneng would be the realization of one of their clubs aims to further motor-cross in Botswana.

 

He said their club had an enviable safety record adding that safety of the spectators and motorcycle riders was paramount.

 

He said they would comply with the international environmental protocol and the world anti doping agency (WADA).

 

Molatlhwe said the competition would also be run in accordance with the Federation of International Motor Cycle (FIM) adding that members, who would officiate had attended and passed the required international examinations to ensure a professionally run event.

Molatlhwe stated that the motor cross competition was a visually high impact sport with many exciting promotional aspects and has very high spectator attraction potential. BOPA
