MEDICAL INFORMATION

Reading back through this newsletter, I am alarmed by the number of accidents that I have mentioned and wonder if I should tone it down a bit? However, we all know the risks involved in motorsport, and that is why medical insurance is so vital. Now I am going to tell you a tale of costs…………… So are you all listening children, then mother shall begin………..

"Once upon a time, in June 2005, a rider entered the Toyota 1000 Desert Race. Full of enthusiasm, he took off from the start and was merrily wending his way when……KERPOW, he was face first down in the sand. Before he knew it, those little men in white coats had whisked him off in an ambulance and were admitting him to that nice building we know as Gaborone Private Hospital.

Whilst lying there in the hospital, pondering his fate, officials made him sign endless forms and others told him to ensure that his forms were sent to MSA. Being a good little bear, he heeded the advice of those wise officials, and sent off his original medical bills, ensured that the Jolly Green Giants at MSA had received them, and waited.

Suddenly, the good fairy at MSA informed him that they would be paying all of his medical bills, less the difference of being in a private ward. Fair enough, said the little bear, as he kissed his medical cheque of R52, 000 that he deposited back at the nice building known as GPH!"

The moral of the story…………..take out your medical insurance, unless you want to be in hock for the rest of your life. If you don't believe me, ask Ralph Wheeler how vital it is to take out medical insurance.
