- Care of fire extinguishers – When we deal with motorsport we do recommend that the competitors and the pit-crew use a 4.5kg or 9kg DCP extinguisher which stands for "Dry Chemical Powder".
- These extinguishers are suitable for all your different types and classes of fire, and are economical to purchase and maintain.
- Fire extinguishers must be serviced at least once every 6 months due to the risk, " petrol, oil, gas" etc. Extinguishers mounted on vehicles need to be checked and serviced at least every 3-months due to the compaction of the powder in the cylinder.
- Owners of fire extinguishers must make use of a reputable company to service them, and the service label with the history of all services should be displayed on the extinguisher.
- Gaborone Motor Club members can take their extinguishers to Multi-Net Fire and Security Systems in Phakalane (next to Daisy Loo) and Tommy Thomson has graciously offered to service them for free. Members can give a donation to the club if they want to. Please remember this offer is only for the club and it's current members.
